Accessibility

Built to Be Used by Everyone.

We run mental health screening programs, and the people who use this site include patients, students, parents and staff who may be having a hard day. The site has to work for all of them, with a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader or a phone held in one hand.

OUR TARGETWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, across every page of this site.
What we have done

The things you can count on.

These are checked on every page, by tooling and by hand, before anything is published.

01
Contrast

Every piece of text meets the AA contrast minimum against the colour it sits on, including the small labels.

WCAG 1.4.3
02
Keyboard

Everything you can do with a mouse you can do with a keyboard. A skip link is the first thing focus lands on, and every control shows a visible focus ring.

WCAG 2.1.1, 2.4.1, 2.4.7
03
Motion

The animated hero, smooth scrolling and menu transitions all switch off when your device asks for reduced motion. Nothing flashes.

WCAG 2.3.3
04
Media

The short clips on the home page are silent and decorative, muted, with no audio track, so there is nothing to caption. They are hidden from screen readers.

WCAG 1.2, 1.1.1
05
Structure

One heading per page at the top, headings in order, landmarks for navigation and content, a language declared on every page, and forms with labels attached.

WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.6, 3.1.1
06
Phones

Text is at least 12px, targets are at least 44px where they can be, and no page scrolls sideways at 320px.

WCAG 1.4.4, 1.4.10, 2.5.8
What we know about

Where we are still working.

An accessibility statement that claims perfection is not worth reading. This is what we know about today.

A
Primary buttons

The coral call-to-action buttons are being reworked so their text clears the AA contrast minimum. Everything they do can also be reached from the menu.

IN PROGRESS
B
The screening itself

This page covers the public site. The screening tools your organization uses run on a separate platform with its own accessibility documentation, which we will provide on request.

ON REQUEST
Tell us if something is in your way

If a page does not work for you, we want to know.

Email info@ssgwellness.com with the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. A person reads it, and you will hear back.

If you need a document from this site in another format, ask and we will send it.
